Suphachai Chearavanont

Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont is the Senior Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd. (C.P. Group), one of Asia’s leading conglomerates that consists of over 100 companies operating in 21 countries across a wide range of sectors, including agri-food, retail and telecommunications. He also serves as the Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee of True Corporation (listed on the Thai Stock Exchange), where he was previously President and Chief Executive Officer, and oversees group-wide strategies on sustainability policies and corporate communications.

Mr. Chearavanont has been a member of the Thai Government’s Independent Committee for Educational Reform since May 2017 and President of the United Nations Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT) since 2017. In 2013, he helped launch Thailand’s first telecommunications infrastructure fund (Digital Infrastructure Fund) and established True’s CSR initiative that helped deliver education to underprivileged children in 6,000 schools in rural areas of Thailand. He has also led the public-private partnership called “ConnextED” to strengthen Thailand’s educational system in around 5,000 schools nationwide.

In 2019, Mr. Chearavanont was elected Chairman for the Council of Digital Economy and Society in Thailand, which aims to transform the country into a digital innovation hub. Since March 2020, he has been an advisor to the Government’s Center for COVID-19 Administration, leading a committee focused on identifying digital solutions for economic recovery. He is also an active member of the World Economic Forum and co-chaired the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China in 2019.

In 2015, he was presented with the “Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Telecom CEO of the Year” award at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards and elected President of the Telecommunications Association of Thailand. He was appointed a Counselor and Advisory Board Member for the One Young World Summit 2015, and joined One Young World’s Global Advisory Board in 2018.

Mr. Chearavanont graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration focusing on Financial Management from Boston University, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Mass Communications from Ramkhamhaeng University in March 2016.
