An accomplished business leader with nearly three decades of global experience focused on developing innovative solutions for patients, providers and healthcare systems, Calvin Schmidt is the Senior Vice President and Worldwide Leader of Johnson & Johnson’s Government Affairs & Policy organization.

As the leader of Government Affairs & Policy at the world’s largest and most broadly-based healthcare company, he is committed to leveraging Johnson & Johnson’s size and reach to develop innovative ways to address the needs of health systems, patients, and consumers.
Since joining J&J in 2005, Calvin has built a reputation as an inspirational leader who builds diverse, inclusive, high-performing global teams that drive innovation, deliver strong results, and launch advanced products and business models.

Over the past 15 years, Calvin has charted a dynamic, cross-functional career path that has shaped his versatile, agile and empathetic approach to leadership and informed his deep understanding of the complex intersection between business and science. He has held several key leadership positions across a broad range of segments within J&J, including Global Commercial Strategy Leader for the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies, President of Janssen Pharmaceuticals in the United States and Worldwide Vice President, Human Resources, for the J&J Family of Consumer Companies.

Calvin’s commitment to improving the health and healthcare for people goes beyond his day-to-day work. He was appointed to the Foundation Board of Overseers for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he represents J&J on the Healthcare Leadership Council’s executive committee and he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Aging Research. In addition, he has also served on the American Diabetes Association Board of Directors.

Calvin graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and holds an MBA in marketing and finance from Ohio State/Capital University.

He lives with his wife and three children in Pennsylvania.
